LESSONS MIGHT INCLUDE
  • A basic introduction to DJ’ing – what it is, where it comes from and what it means
  • Getting acquainted with contemporary DJ equipment such as CDJs, Media Players, Controllers, Mixers and Turntables
  • Learning the names and functions of components such as the Crossfader, Tempo Slider and Jog Wheel
  • Downloading and analysing tunes, and setting up crates in DJ performance software like Rekordbox or Serato, and transferring playlists to USB
  • Getting the hang of basic skills such as Selecting, Cueing and ‘Dropping’ tunes
  • Understanding Beats, Bars & Phrases, matching tempos (BPM) and ‘Beatmatching’
  • Being introduced to genres of music associated with DJ’ing, such as House, Drum & Bass and Techno
  • Utilising EQs, Color FX, Beat FX and Parameters to deliver polished ‘Transitions’
  • Recording your first ‘DJ Mix’
  • Practicing particular skills such as nudging, looping or ‘spinbacks’
  • Stepping up to more advanced DJ’ing, such as ‘beatmatching’ with vinyl, manipulating STEMS, or 4-deck mixing
